One of the more interesting stories from the start of the NFL season has been the disconnect between star wide receiver Davante Adams and the Las Vegas Raiders. The two sides aren’t seeing eye-to-eye and it has led Adams to request a trade out of Las Vegas.
While the Raiders look for a landing spot for Adams, there have been multiple reports about where he could go. He reportedly prefers to land with a team that has a quarterback that he is familiar with.
This would push the New York Jets and New Orleans Saints to the forefront of everything within trade talks. The Jets are his preferred team but he is willing to go other places, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport.
If Adams were to land with the Jets, he would be reunited with quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers finally weighed in on the entire trade saga, trying not to do any tampering in the process.
“I don’t know how much I can say about it because of tampering, but I still have a close friendship with him,” Rodgers said Friday from London when asked about Adams. “We spent time in the offseason together. He’s a great guy and a great player. The rest of that’s out of my hands.”

Adams has been one of the best wide receivers in the NFL over the last few years but a lot of his success did come playing with Rodgers. The duo became one of the best in NFL history, connecting for 76 touchdowns, including the postseason, over eight seasons together with the Green Bay Packers.
The two players are still good friends so a reunion could make some sense. The Jets could use a player like Adams to pair alongside star wideout Garrett Wilson. New York only has a limited amount of time with Rodgers under center due to his age so they may as well take the chance with Adams.
Landing a player like Adams would vault the Jets right into the Super Bowl contender status, giving themselves much more credibility on the field. Rodgers still has at least two more seasons to play if he can stay healthy so the team owes it to him to provide him with offensive weapons like Adams.
New York made a big investment in Rodgers and bringing Adams to town could make all the difference in the world. But for now, it seems that the legendary quarterback is in wait-and-see mode just like everyone else.
