A video of a mini dachshund puppy throwing a “tantrum” because his owner wasn’t “ready for bed” has captured the hearts of millions.
Shared from @teenieweenie.finn, the TikTok account of a mini dachshund puppy called Finn, the clip has garnered over 5.9 million views since it was posted on October 5.
The video’s playful caption reads, “He is definitely over me & is ready for his bedtime,” setting the tone for the lighthearted interaction between the puppy and his owner. A note overlaid on the footage adds: “Watch my puppy throw his tantrum because he’s ready for bed & I’m not.”
Throughout the clip, the voice of Finn’s owner can be heard off-camera, as the miniature dachshund lies at the corner of the bed, occasionally flicking his tail in visible frustration.
The pup’s desire to get to bed on time is not surprising because canines can spend as much as half their days asleep.
Most dogs have two windows of “activity peaks” during the day, according to a study by researchers at North Carolina State University published in December 2020 in Scientific Reports.
One is from around 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., while another is a longer active period from about 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. All dogs were found to be more active during the weekends than weekdays, the study said.
‘Overtired and Cranky’
The pet owner in the viral TikTok video playfully teases the dog, saying, “You’re gonna sit over there now,” while Finn responds with a series of tail flicks and an increasingly exasperated demeanor.
Despite the puppy’s visible tiredness, Finn’s antics prompted laughter from the person behind the camera, who added, “I know what you’re doing,” before asking the pup: “You tired?” As Finn lays his head down in the video, his tail flicks slow down, and he turns away from the camera, appearing to give up on his attempts to persuade his owner to turn in for the night.
The interaction becomes even funnier when the owner tries to jump-scare Finn, resulting in the puppy flinching back, barking, and flicking his tail more dramatically in response.
The clip ends with Finn walking away from the camera, with his owner laughing and saying, “My goodness,” at the pup’s apparent displeasure.
Finn’s bedtime frustrations resonated with users across TikTok, who flooded the comments with amused reactions.
Jo wrote, “He tryna discipline you. It’s BEDTIME!” while @cherylstevens386 added: “He said I’m for the sheets, NOT the streets!”
The puppy’s need for sleep didn’t go unnoticed either, as @lissi0230 commented that Finn seemed “Overtired & cranky.”
Other users highlighted the unique and amusing nature of dachshunds, a breed known for lively and often stubborn personalities. User @pawsofpurelove posted: “Dachshunds are so goofy! I am forever a doxie mom,” celebrating the breed’s quirky behavior.
User @marleon70 said, “The bark was def a swear word,” while @norazowl agreed: “He’s straight up cussin’ at you!”
