The Arizona Cardinals have been struggling this season, and the offense is not humming in the way that the team had hoped. Despite landing dynamic rookie wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr., quarterback Kyler Murray has now targeted him in the way that everyone thought he would.

Whatever the issues with the offense are taking place, things are about to get a bit stranger. In a very surprising move, the Cardinals are set to release wide receiver Chris Moore.

Moore appeared in all five games for the team but is now being released. This is a bit strange as the Cardinals’ offense is not quite at the place that it should be.
Moore’s release could be related to Zay Jones finally serving his five-game suspension, but it could also be because Moore has not produced a single catch despite being in all five games of the 2024 NFL season.

Moore most recently spent a season with the Tennesee Titans in 2023, where he recorded 22 receptions for 424 yards.
Moore has played for the Baltimore Ravens, Houston Texans, Titans, and Cardinals. He spent the longest time with the Ravens between the 2016 and 2020 seasons. His most successful season came in 2022 when he recorded 548 yards and two touchdowns on 48 receptions.
With Moore officially out, the Cardinals now have Marvin Harrison Jr., Michael Wilson, and Greg Dortch as starters. Zach Pascal, Xavier Weaver, and Jones are the current backups.
With Jones officially returning, he might work his way back into a starting role. Jones was suspended for five games in Aug. for violating the NFL‘s personal conduct policy.
Jones last played with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2023, where he secured 321 yards and two touchdowns. His most successful season came in 2022 where he recorded 823 yards and five touchdowns.
Jones was meant to be a solid receiving option for Murray and the offense but has had to sit out the first five games. The league announced that his suspension is officially up, and he is set to rejoin the Cardinals.

The Cardinals nearly beat the Buffalo Bills in Week 1, then followed that up by trouncing the Los Angeles Rams with a score of 41-10 in Week 2. Since then, the team has had a bit of an up-and-down season.
The Cardinals are currently 2-3, and most recently pulled off an upset win against the San Francisco 49ers with a last-second field goal in Week 5. With two big divisional wins, Arizona could be poised to challenge for the NFC West crown.
