Whoopi Goldberg and Sunny Hostin, co-hosts of The View, responded sharply after former President Donald Trump criticized them during two rallies in Pennsylvania.
Trump held a rally double-header in Pennsylvania on Wednesday, making stops in both Scranton and Reading, where he openly criticized Vice President Kamala Harris for her appearance on The View a day prior.
Trump called his opponent “dumb” while suggesting Hostin was even “dumber.” His remarks appeared to be in reference to Hostin’s question of Harris: “If anything, would you have done something differently than President Biden during the past four years?”

“I think the other one [Hostin] asking the question is dumber than Kamala, so that’s a dummy. I’ve watched her over the years,” Trump said. “That is one dumb woman.”
During Thursday’s show, Hostin responded with her trademark “legal note,” which she frequently shares with the audience. She highlighted Trump’s criminal record while also thanking him for providing the hosts with a wealth of content to discuss.
Hostin, a former prosecutor and legal expert, said she appreciates the opportunity to be a regular on The View, while joking that she may not have as much courtroom experience as the former president.
“I was recognized with a Special Achievement Award by the Department of Justice. You remember the Department of Justice, right?” Hostin said to the camera, directing her comments to the former president.
“It’s the agency that’s been pursuing you for decades. Like Vice President Kamala Harris, I’ve also had a history of prosecuting sex offenders. Thank you for keeping people like us in business. And as for dumb questions, you’re always welcome to come here and answer some—sitting so close to a prosecutor won’t make you nervous. I’ll even give you a free View mug, not to be confused with the mug shot.”

Hostin wasn’t the only one of the show’s co-hosts that Trump taunted recently. He’s also called out Goldberg, reminiscing about a time he hired the comedian before his political career took off.
“I hired Whoopi to work for me as a comedian a long time ago, before all this stuff, and I’m not particularly shy about what I hear. Her mouth was so foul and filthy that half the audience left.”
Goldberg didn’t hesitate to discuss her past, criticizing the former president for being the one who made the foolish choice to hire her.
“As it turns out, I was filthy. I was filthy, and I stand by that—you knew it when you hired me,” Goldberg replied. “You hired me four times and you didn’t know what you were getting. How dumb are you?”
“Many people use the F-bomb. He has used the F-bomb. He’s used all kinds of language. But there’s a difference between people who assault others and people who say words you don’t want little kids saying in the middle of church. I never grabbed anyone by their genitalia.”
The other hosts chimed in to discuss his rallies and crowd sizes, emphasizing that the statements he makes at these events are “unhinged” and “incomprehensible.”
