Bus Passengers in Stitches As Dog Can’t Stop Howling at Sirens

Commuters taking the bus through New York City in heavy traffic have had their day brightened by a dog reacting to sirens outside.

Donnie is a husky and American Eskimo crossbreed, so loved by his owner he has a dedicated TikTok account: @donnie.eskimo.

One video of Donnie has proved massively popular on the site, racking up over 4 million views since being shared on September 28, when the United Nations General Assembly was taking place in the Big Apple.

In the clip, Donnie sits at a window seat on the bus, as sirens blare outside, with world leaders descending on NYC and police escorts in full swing, as well as the usual hustle and bustle of the city.

Meanwhile, Donnie was doing what many huskies do when they hear sirens: howled along, just as long and as loud as the sirens themselves.

Someone sitting beside Donnie placed protective hands over his ears, and while it didn’t stop him howling, it appears their fellow passengers were enjoying the show, as laughter could be heard from all sides.

Donnie’s owner wrote in a caption: “When your commute is ruined by UN general assembly traffic this week.”

The clip, with over 760,000 likes, attacked hundreds of comments, with one user admitting: “This would make my commute, honestly”

Another joked: “He looks affronted that people are laughing while he’s doing his very serious job,” and another agreed: “He got embarrassed when he heard people laughing.”

“Such a good parent covering the ears,” another pointed out, adding: “Thank you.”

And as one put it: “The rest of the bus laughing in the background is perfection”

Donnie is a ‘huskimo,’ a cross between a husky and an American Eskimo, known for their friendly, intelligent nature, fluffy coat and plumed tail, as written by the American Kennel Club (AKC).

While huskies are known to be a very vocal dog, Eskimos are around the mid-level when it comes to barking, the AKC writes. The Siberian husky is friendly, high-energy, and enjoy people and other dogs.

On Donnie’s dedicated TikTok page, other videos show him relaxing with his owner, playing, getting cuddles—and further clips of him howling away to the sounds of New York City.

Newsweek has contacted @donnie.huskimo on TikTok for comment.
