‘Hawk Tuah Girl’ Responds to Claim Social Media Is Run by Someone Else
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Haliey Welch—aka the Hawk Tuah Girl—has hit back at rumors that she isn’t running her own social media accounts now that she’s a star.

Welch became an online sensation after being asked about her sex life in a man-on-the-street interview with YouTubers Tim & Dee TV. The duo asked her what would make a “man go crazy” in bed and she replied “hawk tuah,” an onomatopoeia to describe an intimate act.

As Welch’s star has risen, she has moved into avenues including launching a podcast and selling merchandise. And it seems some people are questioning whether she is still in control of her social media accounts.

One person posted on X, formerly Twitter: “We can tell it’s not you tweeting anymore. Got snagged up in the business… Shame.” But Welch clapped straight back with a video message, in which she said: “It’s me b****, it’s Hawktoshi. Let’s go Mets.”

Newsweek has emailed a representative for Welch for comment.

The X user later clarified that they had just been teasing Welch, posting: “I was just playing with her. Plus she show showed her fans she really does run the account. So win win. Genuine is always better.”

Many fans were also pleased to hear Welch is a Mets fan, with several commenting. “I love that you’re a Mets fan!” one person wrote on X. “It’s awesome! Keep riding the wave you’re on and use your popularity for something positive!”

Another said: “I’m telling you… keep rooting for our boys. We need your good luck!”

The Hawk Tuah phenomenon started in June this year when the clip of Welch dishing out her cheeky bedroom tip went viral. She has since revealed that the comment changed her life, as she has been able to quit her job at a factory and set up an animal charity, Paws Across America.

She is also selling Hawk Tuah merchandise, has a podcast called Talk Tuah and featured in a segment on sketch show Saturday Night Live.

However, Welch has suggested that suddenly becoming famous hasn’t all been plain sailing. She said in a video on Instagram that it was “not all delightful,” adding: “I have to convince my Pawpaw not to shoot the paparazzi outside of our house every day. Because they have been camped out here for like two weeks.”
