A man has performed the ultimate act of service for his girlfriend in pain.
A video posted to TikTok by Tabitha Jo (@ttabithajo) has gone viral, featuring a clip of her boyfriend walking home in her red heeled shoes while she wore his white tennis sneakers. The video has received 1.5 million views and over 230,000 likes since being posted. Jo, 29, spoke to Newsweek about what the gesture meant to her, and how his fashion choice went over with the streets of Chicago.
“Kings don’t let their queens walk home with a blister,” Jo captioned the video.

Jo said she and her boyfriend, Henry, had taken a walk to meet his parents for dinner when her new shoes began to bother her. She made it through most of the night with several blisters before she realized she couldn’t face the walk home. That’s when Henry literally stepped in.
“Before I could suggest calling an Uber, Henry was already removing his shoes and offering to wear mine home,” she said—and it wasn’t the first time.
The couple had recently returned from Las Vegas, where Jo had asked to wear Henry’s shoes to the pool because of pain from another shoe break-in. Again without hesitation, Henry wore her flip-flops from the casino to the pool.
“He even opted for the pair with a slight wedge as he felt they offered better support,” she said.
Henry’s confidence in Jo’s shoes the night of the video was well-praised by the streets of Chicago, but the Internet almost didn’t see it. Jo said she left her phone at the restaurant by accident, and only realized when she thought to record the moment that she had lost it. Henry walked back into the restaurant with a “vibrant shoe change” to collect the phone, Jo said. And the praise was just getting started.
“He received a lot of smiles, claps, cheers and even a few car honks as we walked through the busy River North area,” she said.
Viewers on TikTok also adored the shoes on Henry, likening the pair to the one Dorothy wears in The Wizard of Oz.
Jo’s video—and the willingness to swap shoes for the other’s comfort, reflects her and Henry’s relationship, she said. It’s a lighthearted example at the principle that lies at the core of their relationship: partnership.
“No matter what life throws at us (or what pair of shoes pinches us), we have each other to both laugh with and lean on,” she said.
