Travis Kelce likes to stay true to his roots when rooting for a major league baseball team.

On Monday, October 14, Travis, 35, and his superstar girlfriend, Taylor Swift, attended game one of the American League Championship Series at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, where the New York Yankees played the Cleveland Guardians. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end admitted on the Wednesday, October 16 episode of his and brother Jason Kelce’s hit podcast New Heights that, as an Ohio native, he had conflicting emotions about being there as someone supporting the Guardians.

“It was mixed feelings because I was there trying to have some fun with Tay and everybody, all our friends… came, we had an unbelievable crew with us and hanging with us, it was fun, even though the Guards couldn’t pull it off, it was still an exciting, exciting, game,” the Super Bowl champion recounted. “It was cool to see Yankee Stadium, because I always wanted to see that thing in person, in a playoff game, in a hostile environment, and it didn’t disappoint, man. The Yankees, the fans, the players, everybody involved man, it was awesome.”

The NFL star described how, as a Cleveland native, he wanted his home team to pull out a win. “I’m in hostile territory, ’cause it’s the Bronx Bombers and I’m at Yankee Stadium and the playoffs, and I’m over here cheering for the Guards, ’cause I’m a Cleveland kid, and I wanna see Cleveland win a f***king World Series,” the University of Cincinnati alum remarked.

Jason, 36, asked his younger brother what makes playoff baseball “so electric” to him.

“Gosh, I think it’s just the intensity, you know, you play all those, what is it, 182 games, for these moments and every single pitch matters,” the podcaster explained. “A few got away from our first reliever there, unfortunately, and sure enough we weren’t able to bounce back from Yankees’ power. I’ll tell you what, man, when Stanton and Soto, when they get a hold of one, man, it’s oh s**t that ball flies off the bat. It is impressive s**t.”

While the Yankees defeated the Guardians, Travis seemingly had a good time hanging with his girl at the game.

The power couple were out and about in NYC all weekend, and went on a double date on Friday, October 11, with besties Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds.
