The Dallas Cowboys are coming off a much-needed bye week, and they are now looking ahead to taking on the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. Despite needing a big win, the team is missing an important aspect of their offense for practice on Wednesday.

Cowboys kicker Brandon Aubrey appeared on the injury report with an excused absence from practice. That excuse was the kicker needing to report for jury duty. Though it would be believed that NFL players need to report for practice and would be ineligible for jury duty, Aubrey is doing his civic duty.
The Athletic’s Jon Machota reported on Aubrey missing practice. Though, again, it is everyone’s civic duty to report for jury duty — Aubrey not being excused is sure raising some eyebrows.
NFL Network’s Clayton Holloway commented on the happening, stating, “This is a first…”
The issue with Aubrey missing practice for jury duty is there is no promise that he will not selected for whatever case he is being interviewed for. The prosecution and defense will pick their jury, and Aubrey might end up having to report back in case his interview is promising to both litigation for the cases.

Aubrey will certainly need to be available for Sunday during the game, so maybe he might be excused by the judge between now and his needing to practice in preparation for Sunday’s game.
Through six games, Aubrey is kicking 89.5 percent in total field goals. He leads the league with a 65-yarder and is in sixth place with 60 points.
Aubrey having to miss more time could impact his preparation for the game, so it will be interesting to see what happens with his need to report for more than just one day.
The coaching staff and front office might have to get involved and ask questions if Aubrey is revealed to have to report again tomorrow. This is just speculation, but this is an odd case for a player to have to miss practice.

As stated, the Cowboys need a big win. The team is currently 3-3 on the season and is in third place in the NFC East. The Washington Commanders is still rolling with a 5-2 record, and the Philadelphia Eagles are not far behind with a 4-2 record.
Another loss or two from the Cowboys could put them in a very dangerous place in terms of wanting to secure the NFC East crown and potentially a wildcard playoff spot in the NFC.
