Chiefs Place Another Wide Receiever on IR

The Kansas City Chiefs pulled off a huge blockbuster trade, landing DeAndre Hopkins in a trade with the Tennessee Titans. The trade came at just the right time, as the team continues to get hit hard with injuries to offensive players.

Juju Smith-Schuster is dealing with a hamstring injury that kept him out of Week 7 and has also sidelined him for Week 8. Running back Isiah Pacheco has still not returned, though he is working his way back.

That’s not to mention Rashee Rice and Marquise “Hollywood” Brown are both not going to make it back in 2024. Now, the Chiefs lost a third receiver to IR.

The team announced that Skyy Moore had been placed on IR due to a core muscle injury. This will sideline Moore for the next four games.

Moore was likely set to step up into a starting role or big-time rotational piece considering Smith-Schuster has been ruled out. With so many injuries, the Chiefs currently have Hopkins, Xavier Worthy, Justin Watson, and Mecole Hardman.

Moore has only been targeted three times in the first six games, but it could be that whatever injury has been bothering him has led to his minimal targets. Either way, the young receiver will be sidelined for at least four games while he recovers from this core muscle injury.

Despite being hit hard on the offense, the Chiefs are still sitting at 6-0, and are the only undefeated team in the NFL. The fact that Patrick Mahomes has had to deal with most of his playmakers being out with injuries is just a testament to him and how Andy Reid coaches the team.

The Chiefs picked up Hopkins at just the right moment. It would be believed that they are also going to be seeking extra pass-catching help before the NFL trade deadline ends on Nov. 5.

Two names to watch out for are Los Angeles Rams’ Cooper Kupp and New York Jets’ Mike Williams. Both have been reportedly added to the trade block, with Kupp being the bigger surprise.

Kupp is finally returning to action after suffering an ankle injury in Week 2. He is set to suit up on Thursday Night Football against the Minnesota Vikings, which could serve as his audition for whatever team is attempting to trade for him.

Either way, the Chiefs need more offensive weapons, and it would be believed they are going to make some more moves before the deadline passes.
