There were multiple calls to 911 that morning about a shooting. When officers got on the scene, they located the victims, one of them being the Broncos wide receiver.
In addition to Reynolds being shot, another man was shot in his back, and a third victim was wounded by shattered glass. All three victims were scraped from climbing over a fence, per 9News.
Before the shooting, the victims said they were at Shotgun Willies, a strip club in Glendale. They left around 2:45 a.m. and reported there were no problems in the club. After leaving, they were followed by two drivers, and then shots were fired, per 9News.
Denver Police announced they arrested two men in the case, Burr Charlesworth and Luis Mendoza.
Via 9News: “According to court documents, a video from the strip club shows Mendoza entering the club just after midnight. The documents say Mendoza did not engage with the entertainers but instead watched the victims. As they left, Mendoza followed them out, the documents say.
“Several other vehicles were seen pulling into the lot and people inside them appeared to be waiting for the victim to leave, according to the documents. Three vehicles were seen following the victims, the documents show.
“In most of the videos reviewed by investigators, Mendoza’s vehicle was directly behind the victims.”
Reynolds is currently on injured reserve with the Broncos due to a broken finger. On the year, he has 12 receptions for 183 yards and a touchdown. He hasn’t played since Week 5, prior to the shooting.
Reynolds is the second NFL wide receiver to be the victim of a shooting this year. Before the season began, San Francisco 49ers first-round pick Ricky Pearsall was shot in the chest. Pearsall opened the season on injured reserve and made his 2024 NFL debut this past Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs.
More updates should come on Reynolds and the other victim who was shot, so stay tuned to Newsweek Sports.
