Kari Lake served Bill Clinton a brutal comeback after he described her as “physically attractive.”
Lake, the Republican nominee in Arizona for the Senate, quipped at a rally on Thursday that she was “too old” for the former Democratic president.
“As a middle-aged woman, I’m flattered,” Lake said at a Trump rally on the Arizona State University campus in Tempe. “I thought I was a little too old for him. Doesn’t he like interns?”

Clinton’s presidency was marked by scandal over an affair with White House intern Monica Lewinsky while married to Hillary Clinton.
Clinton, who served two terms as president from 1993 to 2001, was in Arizona on Wednesday campaigning for Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris when he complimented Lake.
“You’ve got a person that grew up under sometimes-challenging circumstances, who made something of his life, running against someone who is physically attractive but believes that politics is a performance art. And where, like JD Vance, she has to be prostrate before the master,” Clinton said at Chateau Luxe in Phoenix while campaigning for Vice President Kamala Harris.
Lake is currently going head-to-head with incumbent Democratic representative Ruben Gallego in the 2024 U.S. Senate election in Arizona.
Polling by FiveThirtyEight shows Gallego is leading Lake 50% to 43% in the key battleground state.
Lake’s office was put on lockdown Tuesday after a staffer opened a package with a “suspicious” substance, according to Fox News.
Authorities were called to the office after the campaign staffer found a package that said “caution anthrax.”
Officials tested the substance and deemed it “non-hazardous.”
Meanwhile, throughout the senate race, Lake has made immigration policy and border security a cornerstone of her campaign as she makes a bid to unseat Gallego.
While campaigning in Yuma County, Lake told reporters her opponent, Rep. Gallego, and other Democrats leaders, Vice President Kamala Harris, were to blame for the “open border.”
The GOP candidate said she will “secure the border and end illegal immigration.”
Lake previously ran and lost in the 2022 Arizona gubernatorial election against Democrat Katie Hobbs.
Hobbs won with approximately 50.4% of the vote compared to Lake’s 49.6%.
Hobbs’ victory marked a shift in Arizona’s political landscape, making her the first Democrat to win the governorship since 2008.
Lake refused to concede the race and filed multiple unsuccessful lawsuits challenging the results.
During her gubernatorial campaign, she spread false claims that the 2020 election between Trump and President Joe Biden was “stolen.”
