Taylor Swift Side-by-Side Video Shows Professionalism After Malfunction

Taylor Swift’s fans have pieced together videos portraying the pop-music icon’s deft handling of stage mishaps.

Swift, 34, is in the final leg of her record-breaking Eras Tour, which by the end of its run will have performed 152 concerts across five continents.

Given the scale of the stadium shows and number of concerts, there’s no surprise that Swift has faced a number of onstage malfunctions. But the new video shows how she handles them like a professional.

A video posted to X, formerly Twitter, by user @thisisvertrying, showed the same moment of Swift performing the song “Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me? (WAOLM)” from two different Eras concerts.

The first was from a Paris show in May and the other was her concert in New Orleans on October 27.

At the Paris show, Swift performs atop a rotating silver cube, which her fans have dubbed “the roomba,” which moves along the massive stage as she holds onto a white pole for balance.

But when that cube malfunctions during the New Orleans concert, a quick-thinking Swift leaps off it and continues down the stage. She also completes the same dances moves at the same point on the stage as if she were on the cube.

“Wow this video really shows how professional taylor is, she was still doing the whole ‘waolm’ choreography while improvising after the stage malfunction,” @thisisvertrying captioned the post.

Other Swift fans reacted to the video in the replies of the original post.

“It’s amazing sometimes to thing about her decades of experience live performing. Obviously she’s a young woman but she’s been doing this for so long. She is definitely a seasoned pro!” wrote @timeoutxyxy.

“I can almost guarantee that Taylor and the dancers have prepared for every situation. That’s the kind of pro she is!” added @KaitlinMcCann43.

And @Carolinekeeth commented, “The way it kind of hits harder with her off the roomba. Her being free to move around was incredible. The way she went on the floor—and stumble around like she was falling and being pulled. It was stunning, especially considering it was an improv performance.”

Swift has encountered many onstage mishaps since the first show of the Eras Tour in March 2023.

She swallowed a bug mid-song, has had to run across the stage to make her next mark after technical glitches and has endured multiple wardrobe malfunctions.

At one show in Foxborough, Massachusetts, Swift’s piano began playing eerie music of its own accord, catching the superstar by surprise.

“Did you hear that? Do you hear the piano? That’s insane,” she said while laughing and swapping the ivory keys for a guitar.
