The wildfires in the Los Angeles area that began on Jan. 7, and are still ravaging the area, have claimed the lives of a hang-gliding instructor, a father with his son and an ex-child actor.
The fires that have spread across Los Angeles are expected to kill more people .
CBS News confirmed the names for 11 of the victims. The victims are:

What we know so far about the victims.
Annette Rossilli
CNN reported that Annette Rossilli died at her Pacific Palisades residence after she insisted on staying.
Rossilli refused to accept a caregiver’s offer of picking her up. CNN reported that her body was found later in her vehicle. Rossilli leaves behind a son and daughter.
Anthony and Justin Mitchell
In Altadena, the fire killed Anthony Mitchell, an amputee aged 67, and Justin Mitchell, who had cerebral palsy.
Hajime White, Mitchell’s daughter , told the Associated Press, that they were waiting for an ambulance.
She told the AP that “they didn’t make out.”
The AP reported that White claimed authorities told her Mitchell had been found at the foot of his son’s mattress.
Arthur Simoneau
Sylmar Hang Gliding Association posted a on Facebook that hang-glider pilot Arthur Simoneau died trying to save his house.
Simoneau’s long-time friend told the Los Angeles Times he was returning home from a skiing trip when Simoneau learned of the evacuation order. Simoneau, however, continued on his way.
Dalyce Curry
A family member posted on facebook that Dalyce Curry died at home, after the family had been uncertain whether she was still alive.
Dalyce Kelly, her granddaughter, told ABC7 that she didn’t expect the fire to be as large as it was. ABC 7 reported that Curry returned the following morning to her grandmother’s house, but she was informed by a nearby police officer that the property had burned.
Charlie Mortimer
According to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner, Charlie Mortimer died of a cardiac arrest in the hospital after inhaling the smoke and sustaining thermal burns as a result of the fire.
Meredith Mortimer’s daughter told CBS News her father had “lived life to the fullest.”
She said, “He was an avid sports enthusiast and a world-traveler.” He will be remembered for having a quick mind, a brilliant wit and a deep love of his family. Friends and family around the globe will miss his infectious smile and unending sense of humor.
Evelyn McClendon
Evelyn McClendon was killed at her home by the Eaton Fire.
Zaire Calvin, her brother, was evacuated his mother and baby when he became separated from his sister, who lived next door.
“Everybody’s yelling, ‘Get out.’ “I’m thinking she’s leaving,” Calvin said to 60 Minutes. “And then the day after, I came back and found her car still there.” “My brain is trembling at this point.”
His cousin and he found McClendon in the rubble.
Randall Miod
Randall Miod (55), died in his Malibu home.
John Hughes, Miod’s friend, told CBS News that he spoke to Miod last on FaceTime, Wednesday. He claimed that Miod told him he was heading into his kitchen to rescue his cat, and the last thing he said to Miod was “I love You, Brother.”
Miod’s hose was seen later by others at his home.
Hughes stated that Miod, who was not employed at the moment due to health concerns, “worked in every restaurant along the PCH.” Hughes called Randall the “king” of Malibu and an “icon in the community.”
Rodney Nickerson
Rodney Nickerson died in bed after the Eaton Fire.
Kimiko Nickerson, , told CBS Los Angeles, that her father wanted to remain in the Altadena home he bought in 1968 for only $5.
She said, “That’s the last thing that he said verbally to me, I’ll be there tomorrow.” “My son, my neighbors, and I tried to get him out, but he said that he would be fine …”
Rory Sykes
Rory Sykes was a former child actor who died in the Palisades fire, according to his mother Shelley Sykes. She is a TV production entrepreneur.
Sykes appeared on the British television series “Kiddy Kapers” in 1990.
Sykes claimed that she tried to save the son who refused to leave home. Sykes stated on social media she and her child lived on a 17 acre estate in Malibu. He was also blind and had trouble walking.
Victor Shaw
Victor Shaw, aged 66, was killed in the Eaton Fire. He was found with a hose, after a fire had ravaged through his neighborhood. Shari Shaw , his sister, told CBS News she believes he attempted to put out the fire.
She said, “He was not in the best health but I knew he probably fought his heart out.”
She said, “I will miss talking to, and joking with, him. I’ll miss traveling with him. And, I’ll just be missing him to death.” “I’m sorry that he went out in such a way.”
