A video showing the emotional reunion of two kitten brothers has melted hearts all over social media after going viral earlier this week.
In the clip, shared on TikTok on Thursday, under the username @renellehodgesx, the kittens’ owner explains: “So we got a kitten but we didn’t want him to be alone… So we went and surprised him with his brother.”
The first kitty can be seen laying alone by the edge of the couch as his owner holds his litter brother in her arms. At the beginning neither kitten could believe their eyes, but then after a good sniff they recognized each other.
At that point the two kitties began playing and cuddling, and according to a caption shared with the clip, now “they’re inseparable.”

Web MD explains that although cats have a reputation as solitary animals, and some do not like other pets, they are still social creatures and can bond with other animals, especially another feline buddy.
But how do you know if your cat is feeling lonely and needs a companion? Certain changes in behavior can give you a hint. These include extra clinginess, a change in grooming, eating or sleeping habits, destructive behavior, litter tray issues, and a shift in energy.
The video quickly went viral on social media, getting viewers from across TikTok. It has so far received over 1.5 million views and 170,000 likes on the platform.
One user, Jackiekiara, commented: “My cat had kittens and I can’t bring myself to sell any of them so now I’m stuck with 5 cats, love it though.”
Hayley Dyer said: “I went to get one kitten and ended up with two cos the woman said nobody liked the boy cos he had a brown nose, pretty sure she was just saying it to get rid of him quicker but soooo glad I got 2.”
Phoebe added: “So cute! Just make sure they don’t get litter syndrome and then hate each other two of my cats were inseparable as kittens but as they grew up one of them started bullying the other.”
