A memorable Week 1 of the 2024 college football season wraps up with a Monday night ACC battle between Boston College and Florida State in Tallahassee.
The conference matchup between the Eagles and the Seminoles kicks off at 7:30 p.m. on ESPN.

Boston College vs. FSU Betting Preview
Boston College is yet to get its season underway, while Florida State is coming off a stunning 24-21 loss to Georgia Tech in Dublin, Ireland, last weekend.
The Noles lost a ton of talent from last year’s ACC Championship-winning squad, but started this year ranked No. 10 in the nation and favored to win the conference again after adding a number of highly-regarded players in the transfer portal.

How will Florida State respond to their Week 0 loss to GT as double-digit favorites?
The Seminoles offense lost the battle at the line of scrimmage to the Yellow Jackets, rushing for just 98 yards on 31 carries (3.2 yards per carry), as the Jackets packed the box and dared transfer QB DJ Uiagalelei to beat them.
Uiagalelei avoided costly turnovers, but was unable to beat Georgia Tech deep, finishing with just 193 yards passing, and no touchdowns, on 27 attempts.
On the other side of the ball, the Florida State D-line, a perceived strength entering the season, struggled to slow down Georgia Tech’s running game, allowing 190 yards on 36 carries.
The FSU defense gave up just 24 points, but allowed a 12-play, 49-yard drive that ate up the final six minutes of the fourth quarter and set up Georgia Tech’s game-winning field goal as time expired.
Now, facing one of the best running quarterbacks in the country, the Florida State D needs an emphatic bounce-back on Monday night.
Boston College Eagles Betting News, Analysis
Boston College is coming off a roller-coaster season a year ago that included a near-upset of the Seminoles last September. BC ended up losing that game 31-29 as 26.5-point home underdogs, as a late Eagles rally in Chestnut Hill came up just short.
Eagles QB Thomas Castellanos was outstanding in that game, with over 300 yards passing and another 95 on the ground. Castellanos finished 2023 with nearly 1,000 yards rushing and 11 TDs on the ground.
The Eagles were 6-3 at one point a year ago, but lost their final three regular-season games. An impressive upset of SMU in the 2023 Wasabi Fenway Bowl ended the year on a high note, though.
BC lost head coach Jeff Hafley to the Packers this offseason, and replaced him with O’Brien, a veteran with extensive NFL head coaching and offensive coordinator experience.
BC has experience on both sides of the ball, and a solid head coach in O’Brien, which makes them a good bet to keep Monday’s game close.
Boston College vs. FSU Prediction
No, we don’t see Florida State starting the year 0-2 in the ACC. There’s too much talent on this roster — and the Noles will be too angry after their unexpected stumble in Week 0 — for them to lay another egg tonight.
Castellanos, who ran for 125 yards or more four different times in 2023, and the Eagles will hang with Florida State unless Uiagalelei can make the big plays down the field that we’ve rarely seen from him over the last few years.
