Watch Dog Beg for Forgiveness in the Most Adorable Way After ‘Snaccident’
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

A dog gave the ultimate apology when he was caught stealing food from the table, and his owner was incapable of staying mad at what one person called the pooch’s “snaccident”.

Hannah, from Warwickshire in England, regularly shares snippets of her everyday life to her TikTok account @bibihomeshop, and one video of her border collie, Sykes, getting in trouble has proved popular on the app.

“He rarely puts a foot wrong as he just wants to please all the time,” Hannah told Newsweek. “And he’s a very sensitive soul so being told off is the worst for him!”

Shared on July 21 and boasting over 50,000 views, the video shows Hannah approaching Sykes, who is lying on a dog bed and already has a guilty, apologetic look on his face.

Rather than accusing “sausage thief” Sykes of stealing food right away, Hannah asks in a sing-song voice: “Now I’m not sure, but did some food from the table maybe jump off, or maybe fall, into Sykes’ mouth?”

Sykes clearly knows what he’s being accused of, and immediately gets up and walks towards Hannah, wagging his tail gently before staring up at her with what can only be described as the ultimate puppy-dog eyes.

“Was it an accident?” Hanah offers, as Sykes licks his lips as if remembering the food he stole, before giving her the paw as an apology.

“Are you sorry? The lovely sorry paws?” Hannah asks again, before suggesting Sykes was “protecting us from the leftover sausages and burgers.”

Sykes continues to nuzzle into her before the dog owner relents: “Well, thank you for your service.”

Hannah said she got Sykes when she was seven months pregnant, and got him into obedience training straight away, to “help him become the most well-behaved boy ever”.

“Our eldest has grown up with him, learning to walk by holding onto him. He’s also cured a lot of our friends’ kids [who] were terrified of dogs, he’s literally the perfect family pet,” she said proudly.

But sometimes the temptation is just too great, and when cold sausages were left on that table after a family barbeque, Sykes couldn’t help himself.

Hannah was clearing off the table and went inside with dishes, and “as I came out again I could instantly tell he’d done something wrong”, she said.

“He stopped dead where he was in the garden, turned around very slowly, wouldn’t get eye contact with me and walked in slow motion all the way across the garden and back into the house.

“I noticed the sausages were gone pretty quickly so went in to ask him if he knew anything about it,” she said, adding: “I filmed it as his guilty face and apologetic ways are always hilarious.”

Sykes
Hannah said Sykes is usually impeccably well-behaved and an adored family pet. The family live together in a village in England.

TikTok users loved the sweet clip, with some sharing their own stories. One wrote: “Our family dog stole an entire uncooked steak from the table when dad prepared them. Never seen a happier dog.”

“I got protected from a plate full of party sandwiches yesterday,” another said. “Apparently tuna was far too dangerous.”

A third declared Sykes is “a hero and deserves a proper reward,” while as one put it: “Good God I couldn’t deny him anything, what a total gentleman.”

And a different user made the ‘punderful’ declaration: “It was a snaccident.”

Border collies like Sykes are known for their intelligence and energy and make popular working dogs as well as family pets.

Still commonly used on farms, the border collie is described as a remarkably bright workaholic, who will only settle down after the working day is done. Families keen to take on a border collie as a pet should be prepared to give the time and energy needed to keep the breed happy, according to the American Kennel Club.

In Sykes’ case, Hannah confirmed he is “super intelligent,” and has figured out how to open the doors to her garden studio, where she works running her small business, Bibi Home, creating refillable candles, planters, and floral reed diffusers.

She joked: “If it’s raining though, he seems to magically forget how to open the doors and just sit out in the rain looking in!”
