Former Georgia Lieutenant Governor Geoff Duncan left the GOP to join the Democrat Party.
He said that his decision was “based on my daily struggle as a Republican to love my neighbors.”
He also attacked Donald Trump’s immigration policy in an op-ed for The Atlantic Journal-Constitution.
Former Georgia Lt. Governor. Geoff Duncan has officially switched from the Republican side to the Democrat, claiming that his journey towards the left began well before 2020.
Duncan stated on social media that “my journey to become a Democrat began well before Donald Trump attempted to steal the 2020 Georgia election,” stating that this shift was “centered about my daily struggle to be a good neighbor as a Republican.”
Duncan — who served as lieutenant governor of the Peach State from 2019 until 2023 — linked to his op-ed in The Atlantic Journal-Constitution, where he explained that he felt he was unable to properly love his neighbor by being a Republican
…
He criticized Republican efforts to reduce fraud, waste and abuse of current welfare programs. He cited budget cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, as well as “the program’s effectiveness in continuing to feed hungry children at school by providing free and reduced-cost meals.”
He claimed that recent immigration policies had become a lesson in how to not love your neighbor. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations were akin “to military style raids against undocumented, law-abiding, families with the sole intention of creating a social media feeding frenzy,” deeming these actions the “epitomes of heartless and pointless.”
Donald Trump said, “Good riddance,” and that “We don’t want him to be in the Republican Party anymore.”
Former Lt. Geoff Duncan is the Georgia Governor and he’s a loser. He never got anything done. All he did was complain. We no longer wanted him to be a Republican, so I was told he turned Democrat. Geoff, good riddance. You have no chance! !
The GOP is losing RINOs!
