Anna Delvey’s casting in season 33 of Dancing With the Stars is turning heads for a multitude of reasons.

While people are already mad that the long-running ballroom competition is featuring a convicted criminal on the dance floor, others simply cannot get over her official DWTS portrait — in which Delvey, 33, is wearing an ankle monitor.

Delvey, as pop culture followers know, was convicted of grand larceny on multiple counts in 2019, after years of pretending to be a socialite and using that ruse to scam $275,000, People reported. The grifter, who has been the subject of much public interest — including Emmy-nominated TV shows and specials — was sentenced to four to 12 years in prison. She was released in 2021 after serving four years, though she has been on house arrest.

Delvey’s spokesperson Juda Engelmayer revealed that the fake heiress could travel within 70 miles of her home as well as in all five boroughs of New York City, according to the Associated Press, which allows her to compete on DWTS.

Delvey has been required to wear the ankle monitor since her being released from ICE custody, where she was detained after prison. Donning the monitor is something that she admittedly hates, as it draws unwanted attention to her.

“Every time I go out, what’s being written is I’m sporting the ankle bracelet or I’m flaunting it,” she told the New York Post in August. “People don’t seem to want to acknowledge that I don’t have a choice but to wear it.”

However, with her legs — and monitor — on full display in her official DWTS portrait, it looks like Delvey is owning the device, as opposed to hiding it under a floor-length gown. And while the majority of fans are furious about her casting, others are loving the ankle monitor look.

“i’ll be rooting for anna delvey, idc!!!! i can’t wait to see her ankle monitor blinged out each week,” one hopeful fan wrote via X.

“Anna Delvey’s ankle monitor for her Dancing With The Stars promo is sending meeee I love her,” tweeted another fan.

“Anna Delvey and her ankle monitor, it’s taking me out! #DWTS,” quipped a third social media user.
