The second game of the loaded NFL Week 1 slate pits the Green Bay Packers against the Philadelphia Eagles in the first game in league history on South American soil.
Packers-Eagles kicks off at 8:15 p.m. ET on Friday night at Corinthians Arena in Sao Paulo, Brazil, with coverage available exclusively on NBC streaming service Peacock.
The Eagles are the slight favorites at a neutral-site venue that promises to give this game a very different feel than it would have if it were taking place in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin or even London.

The Packers were getting 3 or 3.5 points at most sportsbooks earlier this week, but the line has moved in Green Bay’s favor ahead of kickoff on Friday night.
Based on recent movement, bettors who like the underdogs would do well to take them now, while it’s still possible to get them at +2.5 at both FanDuel and ESPN BET.

Packers vs. Eagles Betting Preview
Green Bay Packers Betting News, Analysis
Few NFL pundits would argue against the notion that the Packers’ ceiling this season is as high as anyone’s. That’s due in large part to Jordan Love’s performances in December and January of the 2023 season, especially in Green Bay’s beatdown of the Cowboys in Dallas in the Wild Card round.
With a 26-year-old QB fresh off a massive new contract and a slew of young, high-upside WRs and TEs, plus a proven running back in his prime, Josh Jacobs, th Packers have the firepower to compete with anyone in this league.
In fact, they’re a popular pick to represent the NFC in Super Bowl 59 in February.
The question for Green Bay is what it will look like defensively after changing coordinators in the offseason. The Packers hired former Boston College head coach Jeff Hafley, who previously served as an NFL assistant from ’12-18, then led Ohio State’s D in ’19 before taking over at BC.
He’s known as an aggressive DC whose scheme will represent a significant departure from Green Bay’s conservative approach under Joe Barry from 2021-23.
As long as the Packers can get solid play from their linebackers this year, the Green Bay D should be a good unit given the pieces it has up front and on the back end, especially if safety Xavier McKinney proves to be a worthy investment and Jaire Alexander can stay healthy.
Philadelphia Eagles Betting News, Analysis
The Eagles, like the Packers, could be among the league’s best offenses this season. The Philly O struggled late in 2023, but it was outstanding in 2022 and throughout most of last year. Future Hall of Fame center Jason Kelce retired after the 2023 campaign, but the Eagles still boast enviable talent at QB, WR and RB following the splashy signing of former Giant Saquon Barkley.
Kellen Moore now has the reigns of the Jalen Hurts-led offense, and given his track record with the Cowboys and Chargers, it’s safe to assume Philly’s offense once again be among the best in the league.
Like the Packers, if the Eagles are going to struggle this season, it will likely be due to issues on defense. The Philly secondary will look very different in 2024 after this franchise signed safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson and spent high draft picks on Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean. Philadelphia also will have a new defensive scheme under veteran coordinator Vic Fangio, who is among the league’s most respected coaches on that side of the ball.
Personnel-wise, the Eagles will have a different look not only in the back end, but also up front: D-linemen Fletcher Cox (retirement) and OLB Haason Reddick (trade) are both gone, and former Jet Bryce Huff is among the newcomers in the front seven. If Jalen Carter plays all of 2024 the way he started 2023, the Eagles could pose massive challenges for opposing O-lines.
Packers vs. Eagles Prediction, Best Bets
About all we’re sure about in this contest is that both offenses should have the upper hand, even if both the Philly and Green Bay defenses end up taking big steps forward this season under Fangio and Hafley, respectively.
As for who we like to win this one, let’s keep it simple and go with the Packers for two admittedly surface-level reasons:
- A) Love and Green Bay were awesome late last season, embarrassing Dallas on the road in the playoffs before nearly upsetting the Niners in Santa Clara a week later
- B) the opposite could be said for Philadelphia, as one of the best teams in the league through 11 games got thumped by the Bucs in the Wild Card round
Packers vs. Eagles Best Bets
- Over 49.5 (-110 — available at FanDuel, ESPN BET, bet365)
- Packers moneyline (+110 — available at DraftKings, ESPN BET, bet365)
