T.J. Holmes Appears to Address Amy Robach’s ‘GMA3′ Drama—’Cost Us Jobs’

T.J. Holmes has seemingly addressed his relationship with former co-anchor and current partner Amy Robach, saying that not speaking publicly about their relationship “cost us jobs.”

The former Good Morning America 3 co-anchors left their lucrative roles in 2022 after news leaked that they had formed a romantic relationship. Robach and Holmes were both still married to their respective spouses at the time, but it was reported they had each been separated for months before their relationship became public knowledge. Robach and Holmes finalized their respective divorces in 2023.

After they departed the show, they started a podcast together titled Amy & T.J. Podcast. Their first episode went live on December 5, 2023, exactly one year after they were taken off the air.

Now, in an episode released on Tuesday titled “Jodie Sweetin Unfiltered,” the couple spoke to the Full House actor about life in the spotlight and clickbait headlines.

Newsweek contacted Robach and Holmes for comment via Robach’s email address on Tuesday.

“You know how—we know this—how some publications love to jump on any kind of, even seeming—like, like they almost make controversy where it doesn’t even exist,” Robach said.

Sweetin agreed, adding: “That’s what I mean like, tuning out the noise, like, because you can drive yourself mad by going back and reengaging and being like ‘But that’s not what I said! But actually I did this!’ … No, no, I–you know, we all said what we said and ‘Bye!’ That’s it.”

“I know you guys know the feeling,” Sweetin said, to which Robach responded: “We do.”

However, Holmes said that he and Robach ignoring the false things that were allegedly written about them at the height of the drama damaged their careers.

“Us ignoring and not responding cost us jobs, cost us careers. That stuff is so poisonous sometimes and it does—it can do more than just mess with your head. It can have real-world consequences,” Holmes said.

Sweetin quipped: “It can, we are unnecessarily cruel to each other, again, for just living human lives, you know? Let’s all just give each other a little bit of grace to not be perfect. And particularly those of us who are in front of the camera, like, now, cameras are everywhere. You used to be like, ‘OK switch off, wooh, get to go be like a crazy person over there,’ you know.”

As Robach and Holmes laughed, she added: “No, now, it’s everything and everywhere you are, someone’s going to know and that’s a lot of pressure.

“You know, I’m not making, I don’t think anyone should excuse terrible behviour but I think we need to also be able to tell what really terrible behavior is and what is just people trying to make a decision that there is no great outcome. ‘Cause sometimes there isn’t, sometimes you are just doing the best you can.”

News of Robach and Holmes’ relationship broke while she was still legally married to her then-husband, Melrose Place star Andrew Shue, and Holmes was still legally married to his wife, attorney Marilee Fiebig. Both Robach and Holmes denied an affair took place and maintained they were each in the process of divorcing their partners when their relationship began.

Robach shares daughters Annalise and Ava with ex-husband Tim McIntosh. The couple were married from 1996 to 2008. In 2010, she wed Shue, and they finalized their divorce in 2023. Meanwhile, Holmes is a dad to daughter Sabine with Fiebig. He also shares son Jaiden and daughter Brianna with ex-wife Amy Ferson. Holmes and Fiebig also finalized their divorce in 2023.

Following their respective divorces, Robach and Holmes’ exes, Shue and Fiebig, began dating each other. In August, Shue spoke out about their relationship while appearing on the Still the Place podcast.

“I’m doing very well,” the actor said. “I am very happy.”
