The Seattle Seahawks are making a big change on their offensive line. The team just lost to the Detroit Lions on Monday Night Football with a final score of 42-29.

Despite the Seahawks keeping pace with the Lions through most of the game, the Lions’ defense continually put pressure on Geno Smith and the Seahawks’ offense. Five tackles for loss and three sacks was enough for Seattle to want to bring in reinforcements.

Still going: Nine-time Pro Bowl OT Jason Peters is expected to sign with the #Seahawks practice squad, per source.

According to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, “Still going: Nine-time Pro Bowl OT Jason Peters is expected to sign with the #Seahawks practice squad, per source. At age 42, Peters begins his 21st NFL season and second with Seattle, where he appeared in eight games (two starts) in 2023.”

The Seahawks are bringing back nine-time Pro Bowler Jason Peters. Peters was part of the team in 2023, appearing in eight games.

What is impressive is that Peters is 42 years old and will be playing in his 21st season. The former Arkansas offensive tackle was initially drafted by the Buffalo Bills in 2004 and spent the 2004 to 2008 seasons there.

Peters spent most of the rest of his career with the Philadelphia Eagles from 2009-20. He led the Eagles to a Super Bowl victory in 2018.

Peters was named to his first Pro Bowl in the 2007 season, and he also received a Second-team All-Pro nod the same season. He received Pro Bowl nods from 2007 to 2011 and 2013 to 2016. He was also named a Second-team All-Pro in 2007, 2008, 2011, and 2014 and a First-team All-Pro in 2011 and 2013.

There is no denying that Peters has been a dominant tackle in his long career. He clearly is very familiar with the Seahawks, as he appeared in more than half the season in 2023.

With Abraham Lucas being injured and Noah Fant on IR, the Seahawks are making moves to ensure they can protect Smith.

The Seahawks are 3-1 and have looked good for the first four games of the regular season. Despite eventually being overwhelmed by the Lions, Seattle put up a fight.

Week 5 is set to start, and the Seahawks will face the New York Giants on Sunday. Despite the matchup being favored to land with Seattle, the offensive line will still need to be on its A-game to stop the front seven of the Giants.

The Giants have Kayvon Thibodeaux, Brian Burns, and Dexter Lawrence II, who can cause havoc for the Seahawks’ offensive line, but adding Peters could help prevent Smith from having a rough day.
