Amazon Driver Finds Streets Full of Voting Signs—but It’s Not What It Seems

An Amazon driver came across a series of 2024 election lawn signs in one Colorado neighborhood with a decidedly doggy difference.

Jeremy Hemley from Lafayette, Colorado, loves nothing more than documenting the interesting and often amusing things he encounters on his routes as a delivery driver.

“I like to share the little moments of my day-to-day while I have the time,” Hemley told Newsweek. “We don’t always have time to stop and smell the roses. So I’ve taken advantage of my unique work position to do that.”

Hemley regularly shares these highlights to his TikTok account, jerabu4. One of his most recent came while delivering Amazon packages in Arvada, a municipality in Colorado that is seemingly in the grip of election fever.

However, it’s not signs for former President Donald Trump or Vice President Kamala Harris battling for supremacy on the lawns belonging to the people of Arvada. Instead it’s dogs who are dominating the coverage.

In a video posted to Jerabu4, Hemley showcases a selection of the lawn signs that greeted him on his route. The election of a dog mayor is a popular practice in certain towns and cities in the U.S. and Arvada is no different.

In 2019, a dog by the name of Ender was elected the 34th mayor of Arvada, bringing with him what the city’s official website described as “extensive experience in local pawlicy and practice.”

It’s not clear whether these campaign posters have anything to do with that election but, if they are genuine, it would appear it’s shaping up to be a hotly contested one.

The posters for the “candidates” Hemley encounters include Mollie, a chocolate Labrador running on a platform of “more treats, less squirrels” while also taking aim at “Chloe,” another dog in the race who Mollie believes is the “wrong choice.” Ouch.

Then there’s Einie, a politically minded terrier who, like Mollie, wants “more treats, less squirrels” but is also promising “more snuggles, less troubles.”

The third and final sign captured by Hemley is arguably the most intriguing of the bunch. Sadie-ala is up for election with a running mate, Bernie, and the pair stand on a poignant message: “because together we are better.”

Hemley loved the signs, describing them as “some neighborhood fun” potentially sparked by one proud dog owner. “I can only be left to believe someone put a sign up and then others wanted to put their dogs ‘in the running’ from there,” he said.

Whatever the case, they appear to have had the desired effect with Hemley showing a strong level of support for one particular canine candidate.

“I’d say the majority voted for Mollie, but I’m an Einie supporter myself. We need less troubles,” he said. “Plus Mollie low key has a smear campaign on Chloe if you read the fine print of her sign.”

The signs nevertheless made a nice change from some of the more unusual election material Hemley has seen out on his rounds.

“I’m not much of a Star Wars fan, but I recently saw a ‘political’ sign that had Princess Leia with the caption ‘a woman’s place is in the residence,'” he said, describing it as one way to “show a stance in society.”

Right now though, Hemley is just happy to be out enjoying the world around him, having spent close to two years bedridden with a serious skin condition.

“This is my first full year not only back in the workforce, but also feeling safe enough to be outside and in the Sun,” he said. “So now that I can get out and about, I want to share the world through my eyes. Guess I really appreciate being able to get out again.

He hopes his videos provide “laughs, smiles and a little distraction from the chaotic world around us.”
