Bengals Defender Takes Massive Shot at Chiefs WR Ahead of Week 2 Matchup
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The Kansas City Chiefs and Cincinnati Bengals are preparing for a huge Week 2 matchup at Arrowhead Stadium this weekend. The Chiefs enter the battle between expected AFC powerhouses at 1-0 after their season-opening win against the Baltimore Ravens. The Bengals, on the other hand, head to Kansas City with a 0-1 record after shockingly losing to the New England Patriots, 16-10.

The Chiefs and Bengals have had many battles over the last few seasons in both the regular season and postseason Since the 2021-22 season, the teams have met five times. The Bengals are 3-2 in those matchups, while each team has won one postseason game.

While this will be the teams’ earliest regular season matchup since 2006, the Bengals are wasting no time raising the stakes.

On Wednesday, Bengals cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt was asked what rookie wide receiver Isaiah Worthy brings to the Chiefs offense, and how the Bengals are preparing for him. He wasn’t exactly complimentary.

“Speed. That’s about it,” Taylor-Britt said to reporters. “He can run straight. Run jet sweeps and just run straight. He can’t do too much else, so that’s about it.”

Taylor-Britt didn’t seem too worried about slowing down the rookie speedster.

“Feel like you put your hands on him — he’s only 100-something pounds — so you put your hands on him, you’re gonna stop the speed,” Taylor-Britt said. “So basically, get your hands on him.”

Worthy is coming off an impressive NFL debut last Thursday against the Ravens. The 21-year-old had three touches — a 21-yard rushing touchdown on a jet sweep, a 12-yard reception, and a 35-yard touchdown reception.

Worthy is known for his speed, which is a big reason the Chiefs traded up to pick No. 28 to draft him this past April. Worthy ran a record 4.21 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine, putting him on the radar of just about every team.

The Chiefs ended up getting Worthy — much to the chagrin of the rest of the league — and have already utilized him perfectly to open the season. However, it hasn’t exactly scared Taylor-Britt.

Taylor-Britt, a second-round pick in 2022, is in his third year in the NFL, all with Cincinnati. In 23 career games, he’s accumulated 112 tackles, 17 pass deflections, and four interceptions. In Week 1 against the Patriots, he had seven tackles.

Taylor-Britt and the Bengals secondary was already going to have their hands full dealing with Worthy, Rashee Rice, and Travis Kelce. Now, they’ll likely have to deal with a little more intention from the Chiefs of getting Worthy involved.
