Browns Overhaul Offense With Two Major Decisions
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The Cleveland Browns are currently 1-6 on the season, and things are beginning to look a little bleak. Starting quarterback Deshaun Watson suffered a season-ending torn Achilles in Week 7, sending backup Dorian Thompson-Robinson into the game. However, Thompson-Robinson injured his finger, forcing Jameis Winston into action.

The Browns dropped their sixth loss of the season to the Cincinnati Bengals, and now the team has made two massive decisions regarding overhauling the offense.

Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski revealed that he is handing over offensive playcalling to offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey. The team is also preparing to start Winston in Week 8.

Winston was the clear favorite to land the starting job should Watson have been injured. Once he was, the Thompson-Robinson checked into the game. Winston was labeled the third emergency but was forced to enter the game anyway.

Winston will now lead the team against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, and the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 9. The Browns’ schedule is not going to let up and they will need to figure a way to win some big games if they are going to be taken seriously in the AFC, let alone their own division.

The good news is the team officially has running back Nick Chubb back. Chubb made his regular season debut in Week 7, acquiring 22 yards on 11 carries and one touchdown.

The hope is that Chubb can return to proper form. Getting a touchdown in his first game back is certainly cause for celebration.

In terms of wide receivers, the Browns have Jerry Jeudy, Cedric Tillman, and Elijah Moore. Tight end David Njoku is also a very viable receiver.

It will be interesting to see if the Browns will attempt to make a play to add anyone to their roster before the trade deadline passes. Though they are 1-6, there is a small chance Cleveland can make some noise and get back to AFC relevancy, but the team will need to start winning some of these close games.

The Browns have been dealing with lots of drama this season. Watson suffered a massive injury, and fans began to cheer for it — prompting a response from Winston, Garrett, and many people around the sports world.

Cleveland also announced their intentions to move the team after the 2028 season when the lease will be up at Huntington Bank Field.

The Cleveland mayor stated the city was massively disappointed in the decision, but the Browns will effectively move to Brook Park in the future.
