Ahead of the famous college football show, College GameDay, making their first-ever trip to Berkeley, the California Golden Bears have announced who will be the guest game-picker. Cal Football legendary running back Marshawn Lynch will fill the void this week to help set the tone for the historic setting in Berkeley.
Lynch is one of the most loved members of the Golden Bears, playing three seasons in Berkeley before entering the NFL. He racked up 3,230 yards and 29 scores while in college, earning the Pac-10 Offensive Player of the Year award in 2006.
College GameDay has become one of the best parts of the college football season, with fans tuning in each Saturday morning. The ESPN show has earned massive popularity and it’s always special when they post up from somewhere that they have never been before.
Typically, College GameDay chooses the “best” game of the week for their selection. The Golden Bears have been playing well this season early on, thus earning their first-ever hosting appearance on the show.
The show will take place on Memorial Glade in the center of campus. It is open to the public and fans are encouraged to come out to support.
The Golden Bears will be taking on No. 8 Miami on Saturday night. Kickoff for the game starts at 7:30 p.m. PT at California Memorial Stadium.
This is one of the biggest games in the program’s recent history as they have a chance to knock off one of the top-ten teams in the country. The Golden Bears have looked much better this season, jumping out to a record of 3-1 on the season.
Getting a win over a program like Miami could go a long way for the Golden Bears and would help establish themselves in the ACC Conference. Cal moved to the ACC this year after leaving the Pac-12 amid a large exodus.

Cal has announced that the first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive free doughnuts, pastries, and coffee. They will also have the opportunity to receive free breakfast burritos throughout the entire event.
Miami enters this game undrafted so the Golden Bears would love nothing more than to ruin their perfect season at home in front of their loyal fans. It won’t be easy as the Hurricanes have one of the best offenses in college football.
But the crowd will be hyped up from being at College GameDay and the Golden Bears will look to pull the big upset. If Cal were to win this game, there is a chance that the popular show could make a return back to Berkeley for another appearance down the line.
