Paramount and CBS have reached an agreement with Donald Trump.
Trump will receive $16 million to cover “legal costs, case costs, and contributions towards his future presidential library, or charitable causes.”
The total amount could exceed $30 million.
The network will also have a new policy that it “will release the full transcripts, unedited, of all future presidential candidate’s interviews as soon as possible.”
Paramount Global, CBS and President Donald Trump agreed to settle their election interference lawsuit on Tuesday. The amount could be as high as $30 million.
Trump will receive 16 million dollars upfront. The money will be used to cover legal costs, Trump’s future presidential library, or any charitable contributions he chooses.
Fox News Digital learned that the network anticipates another allocation of approximately $8 million in the near future for advertisements, public-service announcements or similar transmissions in support conservative causes. CBS could pay a lot more than the $15 million ABC gave Trump last year to settle a defamation suit. The current Paramount management disputes this additional allocation.
Fox News Digital was informed by sources close to the issue that CBS had agreed to update their editorial standards in order to implement a new mandatory rule. The network will release the full transcripts, un-edited, of all future presidential candidate interviews. The “Trump Rule” has been referred to by people involved in settlement negotiations.
