A corgi named Olly Punky has gone viral on social media after her owner posted a picture of her dog isolating while at day care, because she won’t mix with the “peasants.”
The hilarious post, shared on Reddit on Tuesday, under the username u/DBrew1985, shows an image of the pup from Moore, Oklahoma, sitting inside a hole she dug in the dirt at day care, chilling by herself, instead of making new friends.
“My mom sends me to day care to socialize but I sit in my hole and judge all the peasants,” reads a caption shared with the viral picture.
The poster, Darcy Brewster, told Newsweek that the 4-year-old pup’s dislike for other dogs at day care is nothing compare to the way she feels about her little furry brother, Gus.
“On this particular day, she barely managed to socialize. She truly loves day care and the humans who care for her there. She descends from her throne to attend parties they throw in her honor, attended by the lowliest peasant of all: her baby brother Gus,” Brewster said.

Just like humans sometimes don’t like other people, dogs may also dislike other canines. In an article published by pet-care resource VetStreet, Dr. Sharon Crowell-Davis, professor at the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Georgia, says that it takes dogs only one sniff to decide whether or not they like other pups.
Crowell-Davis said that dogs live in a world full of olfactory cues, from which they get all kind of information, and just by smelling another canine, they are able to decide whether they want them as a friend or not.
While disliking other dogs can be a natural behavior for your pup, it is certainly not ideal. Dr. Jess Kirk, a licensed veterinarian from Georgia, wrote in an article posted on Vet Explains Pets, that pups need socialization to build confidence and prevent behavioral issues and aggression in the future.
Kirk’s number one advice when it comes to socializing your pup is to do it as early as possible, because the younger they are, the more adaptable they are to new experiences.
The process should be gradual, and every step should be supervised at all times, to avoid unnecessary conflict while your pup learns how to make friends. The best way to train your dog is with positive reinforcement, rewarding their successes with their favorite treats.
The video quickly went viral on social media, getting viewers from across TikTok. It has so far received more than 38,000 upvotes and 147 comments on the platform.
