Bill Belichick’s recent appearance on “Manningcast” during Monday Night Football sparked some debate among viewers on what – or who – his groan was aimed at.
On the Monday, October 7 game between the Kansas City Chiefs and New Orleans Saints, fans speculated Belichick’s frustration was aimed at yet another Taylor Swift sighting. However, it actually turned out the legendary coach was simply reacting to the lackluster performance of the Saints’ defense on the field.
The former Patriots coach, 72, joined NFL greats Peyton and Eli Manning in the second quarter of the Chiefs’ 26-13 victory over the Saints. As the clock wound down to halftime, quarterback Patrick Mahomes led the Chiefs down the field to set up a field goal. That’s when Belichick couldn’t contain his exasperation with the Saints’ defensive play, letting out a groan as they failed to contain tight end Travis Kelce – aka Swift’s boyfriend – allowing him to move out of bounds and stop the clock.

The timing of the Pats legend’s frustrated sigh coincided perfectly with a moment when Swift, 34, appeared on the broadcast, cheering from her suite for her boyfriend’s team after a successful catch and run. The Manning brothers can be seen in the clip giggling at Belichick’s reaction, adding to the hilarity of the whole interaction.
In a video on X (formerly Twitter) of the moment, fans flooded the replies leaving their comments on the viral video. “Paton and Eli just giggling in the background makes it even better,” noted one, while another said, “Bill speaking for everyone.”
Belichick is known to actually be a fan of the 14-time Grammy winner, as many other users pointed out. “Says the guy that was wearing TS shirt over the weekend,” commented one, referring to a photo of Belichick wearing a Swift shirt from Sunday, October 6, alongside his 24-year-old girlfriend Jordon Hudson.
However, it’s important to note that the full context of the clip reveals that Belichick’s irritation was directed solely at what was happening on the field, not in the stands.
