Did JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon Endorse Donald Trump? What We Know

Rumors have swirled that JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon endorsed former President Donald Trump, but the top banker has not publicly backed Trump or Vice President Kamala Harris in the race for the Oval Office.

Dimon spokesperson Joe Evangelisti denied the rumors, telling CNBC that the CEO has not issued a presidential endorsement. Dimon previously told the network that he wasn’t endorsing “anyone” and was spending more of his time on policy.

“What is the policy that we need to both help the world … and domestically?” Dimon previously said on CNBC.

Dimon in March had lunch with Harris at the White House, saying the Democratic presidential nominee was reasonable and open to enhanced cooperation between the government and corporations, according to The Wall Street Journal.

On Friday afternoon, false reports on X, formerly Twitter, and other social media platforms surfaced, claiming that Dimon gave Trump his public support. Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk posted that Dimon endorsed Trump, in a now-deleted X post, and Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, reposted the claim on his Truth Social account.

Dimon has made comments suggesting Trump is correct on some issues. He also said Democrats were “scapegoating” the former president when denouncing the MAGA movement.

“I wish the Democrats would think a little more carefully when they talk about MAGA,” Dimon said on CNBC’s Squawk Box. “When people say ‘MAGA,’ they are actually looking at people voting for Trump—and they’re basically scapegoating him.”

Dimon added that many voters support Trump for his financial policies above all else. The JPMorgan CEO said that he doesn’t like how Trump “said things” but that he “wasn’t wrong about those critical issues.”

The CEO said Trump’s views on the economy, immigration and China were some of his best selling points. Dimon credited the former president with growing the economy “quite well” and his successful tax reform, adding that Trump was “kind of right” about NATO, immigration and China.

Trump last year slammed Dimon for his support of Nikki Haley, former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations.

“Highly overrated Globalist Jamie Dimon, the CEO of JPMORGAN, is quietly pushing another non-MAGA person, Nikki Haley, for President,” Trump said on Truth Social. “I’ve never been a big Jamie Dimon fan, but had to live with this guy when he came begging to the White House. I guess I don’t have to live with him anymore, and that’s a really good thing.”

Dimon is a registered Democrat, according to records reviewed by Newsweek. According to Federal Election Commission records, Dimon made two political donations this year, both for Republicans. He gave $3,300 apiece to U.S. Senator Joni Ernst of Iowa and U.S. Congressman French Hill of Arkansas.

Newsweek reached out to Dimon for comment via email on Friday.
