Kamala Harris’ Campaign Trolls Donald Trump Over People Leaving Rallies

Vice President Kamala Harris‘ campaign team has mocked Donald Trump while sharing a video of people appearing to leave one of the former president’s rallies as he spoke onstage.

In a post on X, formerly Twitter, the @KamalaHQ account shared a recent clip of an interview Trump gave to Real America’s Voice, in which he said “virtually nobody” leaves his campaign events before they end.

His remarks were in response to a comment Harris made on September 13 during the pair’s first presidential debate. The vice president said people leave Trump’s rallies early “out of exhaustion and boredom.”

In addition to the Trump interview clip, @KamalaHQ posted a video of people in half-full stands, with some appearing to make their way to the exit while the former president can be heard speaking.

“Trump: Kamala Harris said people leave my rallies. Nobody leaves,” @KamalaHQ wrote while sharing the videos.

Over the years, Trump has repeatedly cited the size of the crowds at his rallies as proof of his popularity, sometimes exaggerating the numbers of those in attendance by tens of thousands.

It is unclear when or where the second clip was recorded, whether the people were leaving the event, or—if they were—whether the event was nearing its end.

Newsweek has contacted the Trump and Harris campaigns for comment via email.

During the campaign, @KamalaHQ has frequently been accused of sharing misleading or out-of-context clips and captions to criticize Trump.

On September 12, the account posted an eight-second clip that suggested Trump mistakenly thought he was in Pennsylvania while speaking at a campaign rally in Arizona.

Other footage of the speech showed that Trump was referring to Charleroi, Pennsylvania, saying it had experienced a “2,000 percent increase in the population of Haitian migrants under Kamala Harris.”

He then appeared to appeal to voters in Pennsylvania while speaking in Arizona. “So, Pennsylvania, remember this when you have to go to vote,” Trump said.

In August, the @KamalaHQ Instagram account posted a six-second video from a Trump campaign rally in Pennsylvania, in which the former president said while pointing to a section of the crowd, “Would that be OK, North Carolina? I don’t think so, right.”

In the video’s caption, the account said Trump was “lost and confused.” However, the former president was speaking to a group of supporters who had traveled from North Carolina to attend the Pennsylvania rally, and he had previously acknowledged them in his speech.

During their first—and possibly only—presidential debate, Harris said she would do something “really unusual” and invited viewers to attend one of Trump’s rallies.

“You will see during the course of his rallies, he talks about fictional characters like Hannibal Lecter. He will talk about windmills causing cancer. And what you will also notice is that people start leaving his rallies early out of exhaustion and boredom,” Harris said.

In response, Trump said: “People don’t leave my rallies. We have the biggest rallies, the most incredible rallies in the history of politics.” He went on to make the false claim that migrants in Springfield, Ohio, are “eating the dogs.”
