Marjorie Taylor Greene has described comments made by Donald Trump’s ally Laura Loomer as “appalling and extremely racist” and called for them to be retracted.
The Context
The Georgia House Republican made the remarks on X, formerly Twitter, on Wednesday, three days after Loomer made incendiary comments about Vice President Kamala Harris referencing her Indian ancestry.
On September 8, Loomer shared a post by Harris in which the Democratic presidential nominee talked about visiting her maternal grandparents in India.
Loomer wrote: “If Kamala Harris wins, the White House will smell like curry & White House speeches will be facilitated via a call center and the American people will only be able to convey their feedback through a customer satisfaction survey at the end of the call that nobody will understand.”
What We Know
Three days after Loomer made her post, it was shared by Greene, one of Trump’s most vocal defenders in Congress, who added: “This is appalling and extremely racist. It does not represent who we are as Republicans or MAGA. This does not represent President Trump.
“This type of behavior should not be tolerated ever. Laura Loomer should take this down.”

Newsweek contacted Laura Loomer for comment via X direct message, and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene and Donald Trump’s presidential campaign by email, on September 12 outside of regular office hours.
On Wednesday, Loomer accompanied Trump on visits to New York and Pennsylvania to commemorate the 23rd anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. On X, she shared a photograph of the former president meeting firefighters in Lower Manhattan, who she said were “thrilled to see him.” She also traveled with Trump to the memorial site for United Flight 93 in Pennsylvania and the nearby Shanksville Fire Department.
United Flight 93 was the only one of the four hijacked passenger jets which failed to reach its target on 9/11, crashing into an open area after passengers staged a revolt.
Loomer has a history of controversial social media posts which have included describing the 9/11 attacks as an “inside job” and boasting of being a “proud Islamophobe.” Loomer, who ran unsuccessfully for Congress in 2020, had been banned from Twitter before the social media platform was purchased by Elon Musk.

Greene has urged Loomer to delate what she called an “appalling and extremely racist” post about Kamala Harris on X.

In a late Wednesday night X post, Loomer commented: “To the many reporters who are calling me and obsessively asking me to talk to them today, the answer is no.
“I am very busy working on my stories and investigations and don’t have time to entertain your conspiracy theories. I do not work for President Trump. I do not work for anyone, actually.”
Also on Wednesday, news website Semafor reported that a person “close to the Trump campaign” said they were “100 percent” concerned about the influence Loomer had with Trump.
They said: “Regardless of any guardrails the Trump campaign has put on her, I don’t think it’s working.”
Greene has clashed with Loomer before and in April 2023 posted on X following a report in The New York Times that Trump was considering hiring the Florida Republican.
She said: “Laura Loomer is mentally unstable and a documented liar. She can not be trusted.
“She spent months lying about me and attacking me just because I supported Kevin McCarthy for Speaker and after I had refused to endorse her last election cycle.”
In June 2023, Loomer described Greene as a “b****” and “a DOG” referencing her support for then Republican Speaker McCarthy.
