The Juan Soto sweepstakes is set to take over MLB‘s offseason this winter. Soto has already declined upwards of $400 million just so he could one day land in unrestricted free agency.
Now, that day is here, with Soto an unrestricted free agent, free to discuss contracts with all 30 teams in the league.
The “Big 3” in signing Soto are likely to be the Dodgers, Yankees and the Mets, with the Dodgers recently putting their name in the hat to acquire the superstar outfielder.
It’s likely to evolve into a bidding war that could rival Shohei Ohtani’s $700 million contract in terms of total value.

MLB insider Jim Bowden recently made 25 bold predictions as we head into the 2024-2025 offseason. His No. 1 prediction has to do with Soto and where he will sign.
“The Yankees match the Mets’ and Dodgers’ best offers to Juan Soto, signing him to a $622 million contract that keeps the Soto-Aaron Judge tandem in New York’s lineup for years to come,” Bowden wrote.
Many reports have put Soto’s potential contract in the $500 million to $600 million range, but after his successful postseason, the rumored numbers are approaching $700 million over the course of 12 to 15 years.
Predicting Soto to sign for well north of $600 million is a bold prediction, but projecting him back to the Yankees isn’t the boldest of claims. The Yankees are heavy favorites to re-sign Soto after he helped carry them to an American League pennant.
