A Republican anti-Trump group has launched a Taylor-Swift-themed advertisement attacking Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, claiming he is a misogynist.

The Lincoln Project, founded by conservatives and former Republican party members in 2019, has premiered a new advertisement against Trump in the style of Swift’s latest album, The Tortured Poets Department (TTPD).

The ad entitled “Bad Blood,” posted on X (formerly Twitter), is in response to Trump’s Truth Social “I hate Taylor Swift” post on September 15th following her endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris and Tim Walz after the presidential debate.

Newsweek reached out to Trump’s campaign and a representative for Swift for comment via email.

The ad, entitled “The Misogynistic Presidents’ Department”, is in black and white and centers on the premise that Swift is not the only woman that Trump has attacked, but rather that he “hates all” women.

At the beginning of the ad, the Lincoln Project narrator said, “Taylor Swift isn’t the first successful woman Donald Trump has attacked; she’s just the most recent.”

Interspersed with clips of Trump talking about women or to women, the narrator continued, “Trump has a problem with women. Disrespectful, insulting, even violence. It’s ugly, it’s cruel, and one thing he’s proven is that he’ll never change.”

The ad has since gained more than 85,000 views, 5,200 likes, and 1,800 re-posts, and includes well-known moments where Trump has made controversial comments about women, including his statements about Rosie O’Donnell, his late ex-wife Ivana Trump, and others.

Newsweek also reached out to The Lincoln Project for comment via a form on their website.

The Lincoln Project’s advertisement also includes a clip of Trump with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, a portion of an interview in which he says women need to receive punishment for abortions, and the clip from Access Hollywood in which he tells Billy Bush he can grab women “by the p****.“

Many users in the comments reiterated The Lincoln Project’s claims and said that Trump is afraid of strong women, while others disagreed with the advertisement and disparaged Swift and Democrats.

One user, Tomer Rozenberg, wrote on X, “It’s telling when criticism only seems to target strong, successful women. Speaks volumes about the insecurities behind it.”

In a press statement on The Lincoln Project’s website, Chief of Staff Ryan Wiggins said, “Trump leads a movement of misogynists and creeps who want to set women back sixty years. Trump’s scared of women like Kamala Harris and Taylor Swift so he resorts to hateful, sexist attacks. But women will show up in November. We are not going back.”

The Lincoln Project is a political action committee founded by George Conway, John Weaver, Steve Schmidt, and others that releases advertisements and runs a podcast.

The conservative group has released several anti-Trump ads ahead of the election in November, including an ad depicting a future that outlaws abortion, which went viral in August.
