The Pittsburgh Steelers have made a decision regarding the status of quarterback Russell Wilson for Week 4 against the Indianapolis Colts. Wilson will be inactive for the fourth straight week as Justin Fields will take the field for Pittsburgh.

Wilson will serve as the emergency quarterback for the Steelers in this game. Despite being brought over in the offseason to be the starter, Wilson hasn’t taken the field this season.
He has dealt with a calf injury but the success of Fields has also kept Wilson on the bench. At first, the team was being cautious with the injury to Wilson to avoid any lingering problems but Fields has looked very much in control of the offense so far this season.
Fields has led Pittsburgh to a 3-0 record, doing just enough to win games behind a strong defensive unit. He will look to go 4-0 today, a place not many expected the Steelers to be at this early in the year.
Wilson will likely not be on the playing field unless an injury occurs or if Fields suddenly goes into a slump. The Steelers see Fields as the future quarterback to the team so they are giving him every chance to show what he can do.
On the year, Fields has thrown for 518 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. He has also racked up 90 rushing yards and one score, showing his dual-threat capabilities.

While Wilson would love to be playing, the Steelers are seeing how far they can go with Fields under center. But despite not starting, Wilson has been a true professional and has said he will do whatever is needed to help the team win games.
“If I can go, I’m going to go and try to do everything I can to help us win,” Wilson said. “If not, I’m going to do everything I can to help us win in that way, too.”
The Steelers currently are in control of the AFC North, with the other three teams all spiraling early on in the year. Pittsburgh could continue to widen the gap with another win today which would put the status of Wilson ever starting even more in question.
