The Houston Texans lost a huge offensive weapon on Tuesday, as star wide receiver Stefon Diggs was revealed to have a torn ACL. Diggs is now lost for the rest of 2024, as he will have to recover from the season-ending injury.

Diggs’ season-ending injury is going to be tough to deal with, especially for Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud. Stroud and Diggs linked up for some great plays through the first half of the regular season.
Now, Stroud has spoken to reporters about the Diggs injury, stating how sad he is for having lost the star receiver for the season.

Stroud approached the podium and was clearly upset when talking about Diggs’ injury. The video was shared by Houston reporter Adam Wexler.
When asked about Diggs, Stroud stated, “I feel really bad for him. He was having the best time playing football in his career, that’s what he told us.”

Diggs was traded to the Texans by the Buffalo Bills before the 2024 season began. It had appeared that the Bills and Diggs were at odd ends, resulting in his being moved.
Despite whatever issues Diggs and the Bills had with one another, he joined another strong AFC contender and was an immediate boost to the Texans’ wide receiving corps. Diggs joined young stars Tank Dell and Nico Collins, and the three could have been one of the best trios in the NFL.
Dell and Collins have been dealing with injuries in 2024. Collins remains on IR with a hamstring injury, though he is expected to return on Nov. 10 when the Texans take on the Detroit Lions. Dell missed Week 4 due to a chest injury.
With Diggs on the team, Stroud still had an elite wide receiver to throw the ball to. Through seven games, Diggs hauled in 496 yards and three touchdowns on 47 receptions for an average of 10.6 yards per catch.
Though Diggs was injured in Week 8, he secured five receptions for 81 yards. Stroud and Diggs were becoming quite a good duo, but now he will spend the rest of 2024 healing from his torn ACL.

It’s understandable that Stroud is upset after losing Diggs, as would any teammate be. Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans stated he can’t wait to see what receiver steps up with Diggs out, but the team would still do well to call teams about potential trades.
Dell is a good receiver, as is Collins. Though the pair will be reunited soon, the Texans still need some depth, or potentially a big name to push them further into the realm of competing for a Super Bowl.
