Tennessee Titans head coach Brian Callahan was seen yelling “What the f— are you doing?” to Will Levis after the second-year quarterback made yet another costly mistake on Sunday.
In the redzone with a 7-0 lead over the New York Jets on 3rd-and-goal, Levis attempted to exit the pocket and shuttle the ball off to running back Tyjae Spears on a backward pass. Levis got tripped up, and the football was fumbled and recovered by the Jets.
The series cost the Titans at least three points, and Callahan was visibly upset with his quarterback.
On Monday, Callahan expressed that he wished the moment had not been caught on camera, but that he does not regret his emotions in the moment.
“I don’t regret my feelings about it and how I felt in the moment,” Callahan said, via Turron Davenport of ESPN. “I am generally pretty composed. That one just set me off, and, I’m human like everybody else. I have blackout moments where I’ll lose my mind.”

Callahan added that before the Titans’ next offensive series, he told Levis he loved him and was not mad at him, per Davenport.

This was not the first time Levis has made an egregious error that cost the Titans. Following the fumble, Levis attempted an ill-advised pass down the field to Treylon Burks, who was facing double coverage. Jets cornerback Brandin Echols picked off the pass.

The week prior against the Chicago Bears, Levis made a bone-headed play that gave the Bears the win. The Titans held a one-point lead over the Bears, who were about to sack Levis when he attempted to throw the ball out of bounds. Instead, the ball landed in the hands of Tyrique Stevenson, who returned it for the game-winning pick six.

Levis of course is not the only player on the field responsible for the Titans’ losing their first two games of the season. For the second week in a row, the Titans had a punt blocked that led to points for the opposing team. Callahan added that those blocked punts are “inexcusable.”
