Travis Kelce was open when he needed help on the set of Grotesquerie, his co-star Courtney B. Vance has said.
The Ryan Murphy show is the football player’s acting debut and sees him star alongside the likes of Lesley Manville, Raven Goodwin and Nicholas Alexander Chavez, as well as Vance. The Law & Order star is said to have been prepared the 34-year-old sportsman for his role as Ed Laclan, aka Eddie, and Vance called Kelce both “wonderful” and “just good” in an interview with PEOPLE published hours after Kelce’s first episode in the horror drama’s third installment.

Vance said how the partner of Taylor Swift lightheartedly offered to return the favor on the football field, which the 64-year-old actor declined.
Vance, who portrays Marshall Tryon in Grotesquerie, said: “[Kelce] was very wonderful. [It was] not a surprise; he was just prepared. He was just good. And if he needed some help, he was open.”
Vance added that the sportsman “asked me if we wanted to go to return to favor and go to the football field.”
Vance said that he replied: “‘I don’t know. Kelce, I thank you for the invitation. Let’s just get these lines down, OK?'”
He added: “I turned him down. I just had a little too much to do that day. Whatever. Taylor Swift, whatever.”

The revelation comes just weeks after their fellow co-star Niecy Nash-Betts also spoke out to PEOPLE about working with the Kansas City Chiefs player.
The 54-year-old agreed with Vance’s thoughts: “Travis was very open. He was very open on if there was a note given or a suggestion given. So amenable. ‘Tell me what I don’t know. Tell me what your thought is on this.’
“I love that he didn’t come in trying to act, like, ‘I know everything and I know it all,'” Nash-Betts said. She added: “I just think that fans are going to find him very charming in this role.”
Wednesday evening saw Kelce enter the mix as the series follows Detective Lois Tryon (Nash-Betts) and her investigation of a number of murders.
Kelce’s orderly helps her escape from hospital after she is arrested for drink-driving.
Kelce previously said on his New Heights podcast that he was blown away that Murphy was willing to give him a big role, adding: “Hopefully, I don’t bomb this for him.”
