Todd Chrisley is going to have to find new ways to pass the time in prison.

The former reality star, 55, is currently serving 12 years at the Federal Prison Camp Pensacola in Florida for bank fraud and tax evasion. While behind bars, Chrisley was recently let go from his job in the prison chapel.

Chrisley’s lawyer, Jay Surgent, said that the Chrisley Knows Best alum was told he was being too talkative with inmates visiting the chapel, per an interview with Page Six published on Thursday, October 24.

“He was told that he was talking with [Residential Drug Abuse Program] participants, and that was not allowed,” Surgent said. “He served in this voluntary capacity for almost two years, and it has been confirmed that the Chaplain had always been satisfied with his services.”

According to Surgent, Chrisley’s official title was “administrative assistant to the Chaplain at Pensacola.”

Surgent ater spoke with People claiming that Chrisley was frustrated by being let go from his job, and “very disappointed and upset that he can no longer participate in the administration of the set-up for religious services at Pensacola, which includes Christian, Jewish, and Muslim services.”

Todd and wife Julie Chrisley were convicted in June 2022. Julie is currently serving a seven-year sentence in the Federal FMC Lexington in Kentucky. The celebrity couple of Chrisley Knows Best reality TV fame began serving their respective sentences in January 2023.

The couple was accused of using fake documents and submitting them to banks when applying for loans, and Julie, specifically, was alleged to have submitted false credit reports and bank statements when trying to rent a home in California.

TMZ reached out to the Federal Bureau of Prisons, who declined to comment on Chrisley’s reported firing from his prison job, telling the outlet, “For privacy reasons, we do not comment on the conditions of confinement for any incarcerated individual, including their work detail assignments.”
