A woman has gone viral for how she reacted to her dog bringing her an unwanted gift: a dead mouse.

Billie Paige, 25, works as an influencer and lives in New York with her miniature schnauzer, Lorenzo.

Lorenzo has now catapulted them both to viral fame as a video Paige shared to her TikTok account @billieshotmefitness, captures the moment Lorenzo revealed what he had brought her.

The two-year-old dog is “always getting into trouble for attention,” Paige told Newsweek, and this time had brought in a mouse “from a yard.”

And he certainly got attention in the video, which shows Paige coming up to Lorenzo, who is looking shifty as his eyes dart to something hidden by his feet, then back at his owner.

“What is that? What do you have over there?” she asks, but before she can get close enough to see, he picks it up in his mouth and runs to another part of the room.

Then, as a long tail becomes visible hanging out of Lorenzo’s mouth, Paige begins to scream loudly and yells: “What is that?!”

Lorenzo simply stares at her before dropping a giant, dead mouse from his mouth on to the carpet. The video cuts out as Paige shrieks once more.

TikTok users were in stitches at the video, which has been viewed close to one million times since being shared on September 8, and one of thousands of comments declared: “You actually need to do screams professionally.”

“She has a future in the blood curdling genre,” another agreed, while one compared it to the “believable screams” in horror movie The Blair Witch Project.

“At least you didn’t panic,” another joked, as someone else pointed out Lorenzo’s “eye contact while he drops it.”

A different person wrote that Lorenzo was “doing what he was bred for,” while another agreed, saying: “That’s literally his job as a mini schnauzer.”

The miniature schnauzer were originally bred to be working farm dogs and formidable ratters, used to catch and kill rats and other rodents, according to the American Kennel Club.

Described as bright and fearless, without being aggressive, minis are popular as family pets, and in 2023 came 17th on the AKC’s list of most popular dog breeds.

Paige, who also posts to Instagram under the name @billieshotme, told Newsweek this fits with Lorenzo’s personality, as he has plenty of intelligent quirks, such as watching TV “like a human.”

“I’m always waiting for him to unzip his dog suit and [for] a tiny human to reveal themselves,” she said.

As for the praise for her horror movie-style screams, she admitted she has “never seen a horror movie in my life because I don’t like to feel scared at all,” which might explain her incredible reaction to Lorenzo’s gift.
