A bedtime routine should be one that is calm and peaceful, but one dog has other ideas for his owner’s kids.
Jen Derham was trying to settle the children down for the night when her 4-year-old cane corso Leo decided to wreak havoc in the bedroom. The mom-of-two posted the chaos unfolding on TikTok, and the video has gained 450,000 views since it was posted on September 5.
Derham, from Eastbourne, a town on England’s southeast coast, told Newsweek that she was reading to her 5-year-old son, Loxley, when her daughter, Cici, and Leo came to see them.
Leo the cane corso runs around the room frantically. “He was being so gentle and careful, then flew out the door, which was hilarious,” Jen Derham told Newsweek.

“Within seconds, he started having zoomies. I reached for my phone to video and could not stop laughing. He was being so gentle and careful, then flew out the door, which was hilarious,” Derham said.
Leo, known for his gentle and protective nature, is a beloved member of the Derham family, especially with the children. Despite the chaos that ensued in the video, Derham told Newsweek of the close bond with her 5- and 6-year-old son and daughter.
“He is so lovely with our children; he loves them so much, and when they are at the park, he can see them but can’t reach them, like football training, he cries this really loud cry-bark,” she said.
The nighttime routine is familiar territory for the cane corso, who accompanies his owner upstairs every night when it is time to go to sleep.
Derham added that Leo often gets the zoomies around 6 p.m., but the family is usually downstairs when they happen. “He saved this one,” she said.
Derham’s video also garnered hundreds of comments from other social-media users. One commented just how gentle the cane corso was with the kids: “That’s got to be the safest zoomies I have seen,” they wrote.
“I’d personally leave bedtime up to him he’s clearly got things under control,” another posted.
Derham said she hesitated about posting the video because she was self-conscious about her laugh, but it makes her smile every time she watches it.
“Kids and animals are just amazing. I didn’t realize the response I would get… that’s what life’s about [and] reading the comments makes me well up,” she added.
