As the Kansas City Chiefs get ready for their Monday Night Football clash with the New Orleans Saints, they could be without two key players. Wide receiver Mecole Hardman has been listed as questionable for the game while running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire has been put down as doubtful for the matchup.

If either of these two players were to miss, it could hurt the Chiefs’ overall chances in the game. Kansas City is already down some offensive weapons due to injury.

Hardman has yet to register a catch this season. He has played in the first four games of the year so his status may not affect too much.

Edwards-Helaire has not played this season so far as he has dealt with an injury himself. His status of doubtful likely means he won’t suit up so the Chiefs will have to rely on others at the running back position.

Kansas City is without star running back Isiah Pacheco. Their running game has been hit hard this season, with the team relying on Samaje Perine, Carson Steele, and newly-signed Kareem Hunt.

The Chiefs will also be without star wide receiver Rashee Rice, who suffered a bad knee injury last week. Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes understands how important Rice has been to this offense so any more players missing is cause for concern.

“He’s a complete receiver,” quarterback Patrick Mahomes said. “He’s getting better and better and he can do it all. I think people see the short stuff and they get enamored by it because it’s so special when he catches the ball, but he can catch the ball down the field, he can block, he can do whatever — everything it takes to be a good receiver in this league.”

Kansas City has seen a plethora of offensive weapons entering the year turn into a tidal wave of injuries. It has taken a toll on their offensive attack this season as the Chiefs’ normally strong offense has been a little inconsistent.

Nonetheless, Kansas City has found a way to win each game. They will enter this showdown against the Saints with a record of 4-0. But if they want to grab their fifth win, it could be a little tricky due to all the injuries.

Tight end Travis Kelce will need to step up in this game, as will rookie wide receiver Xavier Worthy. Mahomes can only do so much to will the team to victory but he does need some help from his pass-catchers.
